Eric Daman - TVFU

I really don’t know why it takes me so long to write about the seminars that I took in NYC.. maybe because it's officially over when I post it.

I'm going to start by telling you about my first seminar - it was with Gossip Girl costume designer and creative director for Charlotte Russ, Eric Daman. i got this amazing opportunity to meet and learn from someone that is work i admire. the seminar started by him telling us how he started - he started as a model and discovered that is real passion was to be behind the scene and to actually style the shoot, because he was already in the industry he had some connections and he started getting jobs.. he was lucky enough to work with the amazing Patricia field on the set of sex and the city.. and then to land the job in GG and so many other great project..

After hearing about his path in the industry we go to ask him some questions, we were asked to avoid asking about GG since the event was sponsored by Charlotte Russ , it didn't happen and most of the questions were about internships GG and styling.I wanted to hear his point of view on so called "rules" in fashion, we share the same opinion - there are no rules in fashion, a lot of people seem to think there are rules but there are not.. people should wear what they like and if you think it looks good it's all that matter. you can also tell that rules don't exist by thinking about denim on denim that was a considered as a big no-no and now is a huge trend or by looking at Eric himself , he breaks the " no more than two pieces of jewelry"..

Eric told us a little bit about working on the set of Gossip Girl, about how much he loves to dress Chuck Bass ( because dressing boys is boring but check's character gives him some freedom) , and how he have to create around 200 outfits for every episode. he gets the script a week before the shooting and start creating the outfits with his team...in the winter it's harder because you have to find 200 different coats for every episode!

In regards to his work with Charlotte Russ we got to see behind the scene of the next campaign, we also heard some styling tips and about some trends for the season.. the Charlotte Russ team also brought some clothes that are still not for sale, so it was nice seeing them before everyone else! Eric really proves throw this company that it's not always about how much money you have it's about how you wear and combine your clothes. we all got a beautiful gift from Charlotte Russ, a silver necklace, 3 20% discount cards to Charlotte Russe and a pin with Eric's upcoming book name on it.. and yes Eric Daman wrote a book that is going to be out in a few month, the name of the book is "you know you want" . on the book there are some styling tips and a very important message.

I was sitting from row and admiring every second of this seminar, Daman is such a nice guy that hopefully one day I'll get to work with.

TEEN VOGUE FASHION UNIVERSITY - DAY 1

Lion of ido

It's hard to believe TVFU is already over, I waited for this weekend for so long and now it's over.. I met designers, editors and stylists that I admire and lived in a dream for 3 wonderful days! Last Friday was the opening event in the juicy couture store, thanks to facebook I got to meet some of the other students before the event.. the first one I met was Bianca from cactus fashion , I met her in sacks fifth avenue where she got herself a stunning marc Jacobs bag (I'm sooo jealous). The private juicy shopping event was amazing – filled with food music and clothes.. the store offered us an exclusive 25% discount which was great but not really my style – I find this store to be a mixture of Betsey Johnson and Victoria Secret pink. There were 5 cute models walking around the store with sweets and drinks, we drank some pink lemonade and ate the cutest cupcakes and cookies in the world! A band called Lion of Ido was playing (the band was awesome!! And one of them was from Israel J ) and after the band a really cool DJ was in charge of the music ..

קשה לי להאמין שאני כבר אחרי השבוע המטורף הזה בניו יורק , חיכיתי לו כ"כ הרבה ועכשיו שהוא עבר זה לא נראה אמיתי. זכיתי לראות מעצבים סטייליסטים ועורכים שאני מעריכה ופשוט חייתי את החלום במשך 3 ימים מטורפים. באמת שאני לא יודעת מאיפה להתחיל לספר על זה ואיפה לסיים.. בזכות האתר הגאוני הזה שקוראים לו פייסבוק יצא לי להיפגש לפני תחילת הטירוף עם מספר אנשים שגם באו לסופ"ש לקורס הקצרצר, בהתחלה נפגשתי עם ביאנקה (מקקטוס פאשיון) בחנות של סאקס פיפת' אבניו שם היא רכשה לה תיק של מארק ג'ייקובס ואני הסתכלתי בקינאה, אח"כ הצטרפו אלינו עוד מספר חברים וטילנו לנו בעיר לפני אירועי הפתיחה. אירוע הפתיחה התקיים בחנות של ג'וסי קטור, מותג שלא כ"כ מוכר בארץ אך היסטרי לגמרי בארה"ב וכשבוחנים את הבגדים אפשר להבין למה.. האירוע היה מלא בנשנושים , מוזיקה ובגדים! זכינו להנחה של 25% כל כל החנות , הסתובבו בנינו מספר דוגמנים הורסים שחילקו עוגיות, סוכריות על מקל , מאפינסים קטנים וחמודים , לימונדות ורודות ופופקורן באריזה מהממת.. להקה צעירה ומגניבה הופיעה (הסולן שלה אפילו היה ישראלי) ואח"כ תפסה את הבמה די ג'יי ממש מגניבה. באותו ערב גם התחילו לאט לאט חלוקת המתנות של האירוע, יצאנו משם עם דיסק של הלהקה ( Lion of ido) שאח"כ גם הם גם חתמו למי שרצה , מגזינים היו מפוזרים בכל החנות ומי שרוצה היה מוזמן לקחת ובכניסה קיבלנו פספורט ורוד של ג'וסי קטור שאני עדיין לא ממש בטוחה למה הוא משמש אבל למי אכפת – הוא ממש חמוד.

לאירוע בחרתי ללבוש את אותה השמלה מהפוסט הקודם - למעשה כשכתבי את הפוסט ההוא עלה לי הרעיון להוסיף אותה למזוודה וכך עשיתי ויצא שלבשתי אותה.. בברצלונה זה היה במראה הקיצי וזה המראה החורפי. הוספתי לשמלה נעליים וג'קט דמוי עור מהייץ' אנד אם, צעיף מאורבן אאוטפיטרס, תיק של אלדו ושרשרת ממרוקו.

פוסט כחול לבן אחרון ב2009

בעוד כשעה אני לוקחת את מזוודותיי ונוסעת לנתב"ג, לאחר 14 שעות טיסה ושעתיים מנוחה בהונגריה אגיע לארה"ב! זאת הולכת להיות חוויה שונה ומאתגרת מאוד בכל מיני תחומים וכמו כן גם בתחום האופנה. מעולם לא היה לי כ"כ קשה לארוז מזוודה.. למזג אויר ששורר בוושינגטון וניו יורק אני בכלל לא רגילה ואין לי בגדים שעונים לדרישות של הקור הזה.. יצא לי להיות במזג אויר מושלג לתקופה ממושכת רק פעם אחת שהייתי ילדה קטנה, מאוד קטנה! ועוד פעמיים בחיי שזה היה לתקופה של שבוע והרשתי לעצמי להתעטף בסחבות ולהיראות כמו חסר בית שעוד שנייה נהפך לקרחון.. עכשיו בגלל שהנסיעה היא לחודשים אני לא מרשה לעצמי לעבור אותם לבושה בהרי מעילים מנופחים. אני מקווה שיהיה טוב ושהתכולה של המזוודה שלי באמת תעזור. אעדכן אתכם בקביעות לגבי מה שהולך ואעביר אליכם את כל הידע שארכוש באוניברסיטה של טין ווג..

אח שלי הורס אותי

From all the pictures I developed recently, it's definitely my favorite picture. In this pic you can see my brother on a hot Friday afternoon on our way back from a house sale. Omri choose his clothes alone that day and made me a proud sister! Since my brothers started to choose their own clothes I'm slowly trying to give them as many tips as possible so they'll always know how to look fashionable. In the past they used to think that if you are wearing red trousers you have to wear a red shirt, otherwise it does not work.. To school they still prefer to wear one of their million basketball / football suits but the rest of the time they put on some stylish ensembles.

מכל התמונות שפיתחתי לאחרונה, זאת בהחלט התמונה האהובה עליי. כשאני מסתכלת עליה אני לא יכולה להפסיק להגיד כמה אני חושבת שהיא הורסת! בתמונה אח שלי מצולם ביום שישי קיצי בקינג גו'רג', בחזרה שלנו מהמכירה של יעל ונמרוד. עומרי בחר לבד פה מה ללבוש והפך אותי לאחות גאה, מהרגע שהם התחילו לבחור לעצמם בגדים אני לאט לאט מנסה להעביר להם כמה שיותר מידע לגבי מה הולך עם מה ובכללי מה יפה. בעבר הם נהגו לחשוב שאם לובשים מכנסים בצבע אדום אז מחויבים שהחולצה תהיה אדומה כי אחרת זה לא הולך.. עדין בימי ביה"ס הם יעדיפו ללבוש את אחת ממיליוני חליפות כדורסל\כדורגל שלהם אבל בשאר הזמן יש להם יציאות אפנתיות שלא יביישו אף אחד.

הליכה לשווקי מעצבים למיניהם מזכירה לי ימים עברו בהם הייתי מתרוצצת בשוק המעצבים שעות שלמות, הימים בהם אמא שלי עדיין הייתה בתחום ואופנה לא ממש עניינה אותי, פעמיים בשנה במשך 3 ימים הייתי מסתובבת בתוך סוג של ארון ענק! כיום קשה לי לדמיין את עצמי שוהה כ"כ הרבה שעות בשוק כזה , לפחות באופן קבוע, אבל משהו חד פעמי דווקא יכול להיות ממש מגניב. מאז שוק המעצבים ב2007 לא נראה לי שביקרתי באירוע מסוג כזה, תמיד אני רוצה ללכת אבל לא יוצא לי.. בשישי האחרון לא ויתרתי לעצמי והלכתי יחד עם אוליביה לשוק הפלסטיק, השוק קיבל באז עצום בבלוגי אופנה רבים (יש לציין שזה הודות ליעל הידועה גם בתור קלבה) והיה מאוד נחמד לבקר בו .. הרבה מעצבים צעירים חלקם עומדים לפני עתיד מזהיר ואחרים שלא הצליחו להלהיב אותי יותר מידי. לשוק לא באתי עם יותר מידי רצון לבזבז, אחרי הכל אני חוסכת לניו יורק אבל באתי עם הרבה רצון להתרשם ולפגוש בלוגריות מקסימות נוספות.. באמת לא בזבזתי בשוק ויצאתי בידים ריקות אבל הכרתי את יעל שפירגנה לי בשקית מתנות , בילתי עם אוליביה, פגשתי שוב את ספי וראיתי את איוון רודיק ההורס. הייתי שמחה לפגוש בלוגריות נוספות וחבל שבשוק הפלסטיק זה לא יצא, עם זאת אני בטוחה שניפגש בקרוב כי עולם האופנה הישראלי התחיל לפרגן יותר ויותר לבלוגוספירה המקומית, כבר השבוע יש אירוע נוסף.

living the dream

Last year I read about teen vogue fashion university , it's a weekend-long event where you choose the classes you want, get an insider-only opportunity to meet who's who, learn what it takes from the best in the business, and have fun along the way. Sounds like a dream! (at least to me). I really wanted to attend but I knew it will never happen, after all I was in my senior year and leaving Israel for a 3 days vacation in NY wasn't possible.
After my graduation I was facing a 6 month break between school and the army, I needed some ideas on how to use this free time... And the idea of flying to NY to the teen vogue university no longer sounded like fantasy. So on Aug 10 I sent my application (It was the last day to send them!), I was supposed to get my letters of acceptance (or rejection) on September 15, I counted the days waiting in suspense for an answer. On Sep 15 No answer came but thanks' to Facebook I had some hope.. Sometime on my trip to Turkey I lost my hope, I thought I wasn't accepted, throw the day I had a sad face but was able to say "Never mind, I'll try again after the army" .. But today I got a special E-mail that told me I got in! I was accepted to Teen Vogue fashion University class of 2009!! I am soooooo excited! in 20 days I'm going to live the dream for 72 hours! My U.S. trip was planned anyway, only now it's sooner .. I'm going to be there for a period of two months and spend quality time with my family there and get together with some old friend and maybe meet some new friends!

שנה שעברה ראיתי פרסומים בטין ווג על אוניברסיטה בת 3 ימים בה אתה מקבל הזדמנות לפגוש וללמוד מהאנשים הכי חמים בתעשיית האופנה , האירוע מתחיל בתצוגת אופנה מרהיבה וממשיך בקורסים שאתה בוחר לפי ההעדפות האישיות שלך ומסתיים באירוע ענק ( השנה באירוע הסיום נראה גם את הסרט "גליון ספטמבר" ונזכה לשיחה עם הבמאי!). המחשבה על להיות במקום כזה וללמוד מהאנשים האלה נשמעה לי חלומית! אך ידעתי שזה לא אפשרי כי מה הסיכויים שהוריי יתנו לי לטוס סתם כך לניו יורק לחופשה קצרצרה של 3 ימים!?
השנה לאחר שהגיוס שלי נדחה ועמדתי לפני חופש עצום בלי יותר מידי רעיונות לאיך לנצל את הזמן, הרעיון של לטוס לאוניברסיטה החלומית הזאת כבר לא היה נשמע כזה הזוי! אז ב10 לאוגוסט שלחתי את הבקשה שלי (ממש בדקה ה90! זה היה היום האחרון לשלוח בקשות!) מכתבי הקבלה (או הדחייה ) היו אמורים להישלח מה15 בספטמבר , ואני ספרתי את הימים וחיכיתי במתח לתשובה. ב15 לספטמבר שום תשובה לא הגיעה ולפי עדכונים מפייסבוק ראיתי שיש עוד תקווה.. מתישהו בטיול לטורקיה הגעתי למסקנה שלא התקבלתי ואחרי יום עם פרצוף קצת חמצמץ הסכמתי להגיד "לא נורא , ננסה שוב אחרי הצבא" .. אבל היום הגיע לי מייל מיוחד והודיע לי שאני בפנים! שהתקבלתי לאוניברסיטת האופנה של טין ווג מחזור 2009!! ההתרגשות בעיצומה.. עוד 20 ימים בדיוק אני הולכת לחיות את החלום במשך 72 שעות!
הטיול לארה"ב בכל מקרה תוכנן , רק עכשיו הוא הוקדם.. אני הולכת להיות שם לתקופה של חודשיים בערך ולבלות זמן איכות אם המשפחה ששם , לפגוש חברים ישנים ולהכיר חדשים ובעיקר לעשות חיים.

Pool Side

I love beach cover ups and I'm always looking for the perfect one. The one I'm wearing here is one of my favorite, I stole it from my mom and I love it! There is another cover up I really like and I showed it HERE in my dead sea post.. if you have more ideas for the ultimate beach wear – please share them with me.

Luna Park

When you are on vacation you feel a little bit more free with your clothes selection , the fashion rules you make for yourself when you are back home are gone.. I'll suddenly find myself wearing something I would never imagine myself wearing around my city. This outfit is not something I would normally wear, the small amusement park in my hotel inspired me to wear this childish outfit.. this clothes combo looks to me like something a girl would wear to her kindergarten, pink and purple together is the ultimate color choice for most of the little girls. The skirt itself is very youthful, looks like I barrowed it from a ballerina or from a baby girl bride costume.. so here is a post I had fun working on.. I loved wearing this in my hotel but you will never see me walking in Tel Aviv dresses like this.

כשאתה בחו"ל קיימת מן הרגשה כזאת שאתה יכול ללבוש מה שאתה רוצה , חוקי הלבוש שאתה מקנה לך בבית פתאום משתנים. אנו נוטים להעז יותר וללכת עם דברים שאולי רק בליל של שכרות היינו הולכים איתם באזור בו מסתובבים גם מכרינו. המיני לונה פארק שהיה במלון בו שהיתי בטורקיה נתן לי את המוטיבציה להרכיב יחד את המראה הטיפה ילדותי הזה. יש משהו שנורא מזכיר שילוב של ילדה בגן בחיבור בין הורוד לסגול , הרי לרוב אלו הצבעים היחידים שאפשר למצוא בארון של ילדה בגילאים 0-7 . החצאית הזאת היא די ילדותית בעצמה, שחושבים על זה היא מין שילוב של חצאית של בלרינה וחלק תחתון של שמלת כלה.. אם הייתי אומרת שהוצאתי אותה מארון התחפושות של אחייניתי היקרה לא הייתם מאמינים?אז הנה לכם פוסט שקצת השתעשעתי בו, הסתובבתי כך במלון בטורקיה אבל לא נראה לי שתתפסו אותי מסתובבת כך ברחובות תל אביב. יש בחצאית גם קצת מקארי בראדשו בקטע הפתיחה של התוכנית , אבל את הצד הזה שלה אני אראה בצילומים אחרים.
